Composites One Announces Workshops & New Technology

Composites One presented a LIVE press announcement at CAMX 2017 in Orlando, FL, about the 2018 Composites One/IACMI workshop schedule and a brand new technology exclusively available from Composites One. Both announcements were led by Composites One’s President and COO Leon Garoufalis at the Closed Mold Alliance Demo Zone.

The 2018 series of educational workshops being presented by Composites One in partnership with the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI). “Workforce development is very important to us,” said Leon, who will be joined at the announcement by IACMI participants. “We’re honored to once again partner with IACMI and industry-leading suppliers on four new workshops enabling us to share advanced composites knowledge, cutting edge technologies and innovative solutions that can benefit both the current workforce as well as the next generation of professionals.” Workshops include:

      • Road2Composites: Scaling Up Innovation, Detroit, MI – April 17-18
      • Advanced Composites and Wind, NREL/IACMI Wind Technology Facility, Boulder, CO – June 5-6
      • Pultrusion, Knoxville, TN – August 21-22
      • Composites Hands-On Training (Workforce Development/Job Training), Dayton, OH – Nov. 14-15

Joining Leon for the second announcement was Matt Borowiec, General Manager, PolyOne Advanced Composites. Together, they presented Hammerhead™ Marine Composite Panels, PolyOne’s new line of continuous-fiber reinforced thermoplastic sandwich panels for the marine industry. “Hammerhead Marine Composite Panels are a real innovation,” said Leon. “Compared to plywood, they weigh more than 50% less, providing boat manufacturers with a lighter, more efficient alternative to traditional marine construction materials.”  Leon and Matt will discuss how these ready-to- install panels can improve productivity and reduce labor costs in a wide variety of marine applications.
