ACMA to Present Steve Dehmlow and Dick Holland with Awards at CAMX 2019

Composites One announced that Steve Dehmlow, CEO of Composites One will be honored at the 2019 ACMA Membership Awards Ceremony, Monday, September 23, at CAMX 2019 in Anaheim, CA with the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mr. Dehmlow has led Composites One since its inception as a joint venture in 1999. He was COO of GLS Composites Distribution for nearly 15 years before structuring the JV. He led the transition of the company from a small regional composites distribution business to the largest composites distributor in North America and a major player in the composites industry. Composites One, which is now wholly owned by the Dehmlow family, has focused on creating value for its customers by providing an extensive product line, unique technical support and unmatched dependable service.

When asked about the award, Mr. Dehmlow said, “I’m honored to receive this award, but it’s really a recognition of all the outstanding Team Members we have at Composites One who are truly dedicated to the success of our customers. I look forward to sharing this with all of them.”

Of note is that Mr. Dehmlow’s father, Louis Dehmlow, was a previous recipient of the ACMA lifetime achievement award. He was also the author of the book Superconductive Ideas, which lays out the essential functions of a distributor and is still followed by Composites One today.

At the same ceremony, Dick Holland, VP of Business Development at Composites One, will receive the ACMA’s Hall of Fame Award to recognize his 52 years in the composites industry, along with his many contributions to composites technology and manufacturing. Highlights of his career before joining Composites One include leadership positions at Owens Corning, Erskine-Johns, and CMI, Inc. In 1999 CMI became part of Composites One as part of a joint venture. Mr. Holland used his vast knowledge of composites materials, applications, and technology played a key role to support the intense demand for ballistic materials for military vehicles, body armor, air cargo containers and cockpit doors for the military organizations involved in post 9/11 wartime activities.

Mr. Holland said of the award, “As a distributor I have always felt we have a responsibility to bring new products, processes and business opportunities to our customers.  Over the years I have seen an evolution of products and processes and great growth in closed molding and advanced composites including reinforced thermoplastics, knit reinforcements, carbon and aramid fibers and prepreg.”
