AHK Kraft Paper / Phenolic Coated Honeycomb
AHK is a structural Kraft paper honeycomb which conforms to MIL-H-21040 C and ASTM E 1091.
It is primarily used as a high strength low cost core material in Air Transportable Shelters for military.
Not to be confused with commercial grade paper honeycomb, AHK is coated with phenolic resin after expanding and then heat cured imparting superior strength and water resistance to the material. The material exhibits high strength characteristics and is water resistant. It also provides good thermal insulation.
It is available in two cell sizes and five densities to suit most purposes. Typical applications include light weight wall panels for military shelters, shelving, and non-structural facia panels for high rise construction.
