Because of this, manufacturers from the marine industry find that isophthalic polyester resin is a viable solution to create gel barrier coatings in marine applications. Dicyclopentadiene Polyester Resin

Dicyclopentadiene polyester resin (DCPD) can be used as the primary base of a resin formulation, or DCPD can be blended with orthophthalic or isophthalic resin formulations to improve properties. This resin formulation has low shrinkage properties as well as improved cosmetic characteristics. DCPD resin formulations have become increasingly popular in open molding processes. One of the many benefits of this formulation is that DCPD has a better impact on the environment by reducing styrene levels up to 30 percent.
